We recently invested in some Kid Robot DIY Vinyl Toys which we are due to start work on soon, so we'll be sure to post our progress here...

Monstrocandy - Artist Bio

Monstro Candy is an art & design duo based in the North East and made up of Bruce Parker & Scott Johnson.

Monstro Candy creates original artwork along with both experimental and narrative based animations.

Scott produces much of his work digitally using bold lines, vibrant colours and the focus is on his slick, contemporary character designs.

However Bruce prefers to work primarily with pens and paints to create composition work, consisting of his character designs mixed with familiar objects, icons and patterns.

The pair are heavily influenced by pop culture and contemporary illustrators and artists such as Craola, Joe Ledbetter, Attaboy, Alex Pardee and Guy Mckinley.

We've been working hard over the last few months to secure our new studio at 'The Shed' in Gateshead.

We're now in and starting to sort out the space into a good working environment. We're also very busy with the next instalment of artist wallets.

NEW BOREAL ARTIST - CHRIS VALENTINE

Chris Valentine is an 18-year old self-taught illustrator from Johannesburg, South Africa.

He is currently working as a graphic designer / illustrator at Rivers church in Sandton whilst completing projects in his free time for various clients. Over his years in school, Chris has developed a signature style characterised by sketchy lines and naturalistic precision. He has been greatly inspired by artists such as Alex Pardee and Derek Hess and his art is greatly influenced by the music industry. In the future he sees himself designing album art for various rock bands as well as producing vinyl toys, t-shirts, posters and prints.

This is Chris' 1st wallet design which will be available soon at boreal.org.uk to pre-order.

This is my latest design. I named it 'A trail of evil consequences', I dont now why, it just seemed to fit.
Compared to the other Boreal artists my work is very simple... it's straight to the point and I use alot of very vibrant colours. I'd love to know your thoughts!

New Boreal Artist - Jack Fallows

Meet the latest member of the Boreal artist team, Jack Fallows. Jack is a comic book illustrator from newcastle who I met at a Designers Market a few months ago, we loved his work and asked if he would be interested in becoming a Boreal artist. It just so happened he loved what we were doing and agreed to join us in our quest to take over the world (well, not quite).

This Saturday (27th June) Boreal has a stall at The Designers Market Place at Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt where you will be able to pick up a Boreal wallet at the discounted price of £15 for one day only!!!

For those of you who didnt catch the Last Middlesbrough or Newcastle Designers Market Place, it is a specialised showcase of some of the best creative talent in the region, works from both emerging and established artists and designers.Through a series of ‘mini-boutique’ like stalls, regional artists and designers have a chance at selling their products directly to the public. On sale there will be a diverse collection of high quality contemporary items from fashion garments and accessories to experimental art, textiles, ceramics, photography, jewellery, vintage and interior products.

Most pieces will be bespoke items designed or made up by the stall holders themselves. Something for everyone, the market is an opportunity for the buyer to find that ‘something different’ they are always looking for.The event itself is just as much about having ‘an experience’ as it is about being a shoppers and sellers paradise. With an alternative DJ and food stalls on throughout the day, the market pairs up to the same vibe and excitement to those of London markets.

New Boreal Artist - Tati Viana

I would like to introduce you to our new artist, Tatiana Viana, or just Tati, from a small city called Natal (RN - Brazil). She's graphic designer, illustrator, comics artist, blogger, webdesigner, nerd and also housewife.
